Say goodbye to lost profits. The Vaisala CARBOCAP®MGP262 Methane and carbon Dioxide Measurement Probe (biogas sensor) continuously measures methane concentration in the exhaust gas of your biomethane upcycling unit to prevent loss of profit due to methane release into the air.
Focus on core issues. The MGP262 methane and carbon dioxide measurement probe (biogas sensor) solves the problem of methane loss that is always present in the upgrade process. It helps fine-tune your processes so you avoid GHG emissions and can focus on producing premium biomethane.
Excellent measurement stability
Low maintenance and ownership costs
Compact shape, field measurement, no need to rely on sampling
Easy to install and operate
Why should I care?
Balancing profitability and environmental protection is a major advantage of the MGP262 methane and carbon dioxide measurement probe (biogas sensor). When the exhaust gas from an upgrade-biogas plant is converted to biomethane, the CO2 can and should be recovered for further use in applications such as greenhouse and food industries, or it can be further converted to biomethane through methanation or power to gas (P2G) technologies. This makes both ecological and economic sense, especially when CH4 emissions cost you money in the form of carbon credits.
Reliable technology
The MGP262 methane and carbon dioxide measurement probe (biogas sensor) is based on the award-winning breakthrough technology of the MGP261 Multi-gas Instrument and the fundamental infrared sensor technology of CARBOCAP™, the cornerstone of Vaisala's industrial gas measurement portfolio. The equipment can remain reliable after repeated use, and the cost of ownership is low. It is an effective and simple solution to solve the problem of economic and ecological benefits.
Exhaust: How much is too much?
If the process is not managed correctly, methane will always enter the exhaust stream, and the resulting methane loss can be higher than the methane emissions from the CHP engine. If more than 2% of incoming methane is released into the atmosphere, then your greenhouse gas emissions will be equal to or higher than fossil fuel CO2 emissions. In fact, methane emission standards are usually much stricter. In the exhaust gas not treated by RTO or other forms of methane removal process, the content of CO2 is usually more than 95%, CH4 is about 1%, and the rest is usually nitrogen, trace oxygen and water vapor.
To reduce CH4 emissions, online process monitoring can be used to carefully adjust the upgrade process, and the MGP262 is the ideal tool to achieve this goal. If you are using a regenerative combustion (RTO) process to further reduce methane emissions, online methane measurements prior to RTO can go a long way. All in all, unless you pay attention to CH4 emissions in the exhaust gas, you will both lose revenue and harm the environment.
