The YOUNG Model 50202 and 50203 Precipitation Gauge accurately measures rain or snow precipitation without moving parts. Unlike conventional tipping-bucket and weighing gauges that are susceptible to motion, the gauge has no moving parts making it ideal for use on moving platforms such as buoys and ships. Durable thermoplastic construction offers excellent corrosion resistance along with long term reliability. Insulated housings and thermostatically controlled heaters permit operation at temperatures below freezing. Precipitation measurement is directed into a capacitive measuring chamber and converted into a linear voltage signal that can be read by an external data logger or recorder. Bird wires come standard with either model.
▶ Model 50202 is heated for operation in cold temperatures (supplied with a 120 VAC to 24 VAC stepdown transformer; ‘H’ version supplied with a 230 VAC to 24 VAC transformer).
▶ Model 50203 is unheated for use in moderate climates.
