pH measurement
The pH value is one of the most important parameters in plant nutrition. The absorption of nutrients by plants depends heavily on the pH value. With the COMBI 5000 and the measuring electrode specially developed for soil analysis, the pH value can be measured directly in the soil.

EC measurement
The electrical conductivity (EC) of an aqueous solution is directly dependent on the concentration of dissolved salts: the higher the salt content, the higher the conductivity. For plant nutrition, EC measurement of the process water and the nutrient solution is necessary, especially in closed and hydroponic culture processes.

Multi-probe: activity, humidity, temperature measurement
The multi-probe enables simultaneous measurement of activity (salinity), humidity (volumetric) and temperature. The activity determines the salt content directly in the soil or substrate, taking into account the respective soil properties, such as soil moisture, temperature and density. These factors determine the dissolved salts that are “active” and can be absorbed by plants under the given conditions.
Soil moisture is determined volumetrically using the FDR measuring principle. This means that the influence of pH and salinity of the soil or substrate can be neglected.
The temperature measurement is carried out in the range from -10°C to +50°C by a fast-reacting NTC sensor cast in the probe tip.

HPT probe:
The HPT probe enables simultaneous measurement of air temperature, humidity and air pressure. The sensor's integrated sensor system is highly precise and has a very fast response time. Like all COMBI 5000 sensors, the air temperature and humidity sensor is of course automatically recognized directly when connected to the basic device using special coding. The new HPT sensor is particularly important in greenhouse cultivation with ventilation and shading installations. Expanding the control options for growth conditions by measuring air temperature and humidity is a further step in the development of a fully comprehensive, multifunctional control system in professional plant production.

Data logger function:
The basic device has an integrated data logger that records all of the device’s measurements. Using the transfer cable to the computer's USB interface, all data stored in the device (parameters and measured values with date and time) can be transferred. The data transfer protocol is output in CSV data format and can easily be transferred to an Excel file, for example.
