MC-100 can directly measure and display chlorophyll concentration in intact leaf samples without damaging plant materials. This instrument has been calibrated to measure chlorophyll concentration in units of μ Mol chlorophyll/m2. For reference and comparison purposes, the instrument also outputs relevant units (CCI or SPAD).
Typical applications include measuring chlorophyll concentration in leaves to assess nutritional status, fertilizer requirements, assess stress, and optimize harvesting.
The chlorophyll concentration meter returns the chlorophyll concentration in micromolar absolute units of chlorophyll per square meter of plant leaf area. There is an increasing list of specific species settings, including new settings for 2019: cannabis, grapevines, coffee, spinach, strawberries, cherries, hops, and blackberries.
This instrument measures the radiation transmittance of two wavelengths (red, strongly absorbed by chlorophyll, near-infrared, not absorbed by chlorophyll), making the measurement non-destructive and almost instantaneous (measurement time less than 3 seconds). This helps to quickly measure multiple leaves and monitor the same leaves over time.
The memory allocated to the data storage allows for recording 160000 measurement values. The mini USB port allows direct connection to the computer for downloading data. The chlorophyll meter is equipped with a standard mini USB to USB cable for data download. The new internal GPS allows for geographic referencing of on-site data. The storage capacity of geographic reference data is 94000 measurements.
The specific crop types set in the dashboard include rice, wheat, soybeans, barley, pepper, tomato, peas, cabbage, Walderman's Green lettuce, Buttercruch lettuce, corn, sorghum, Quking Aspen, European birch, paper birch, Crimson King Maple, Norwegian maple, Japanese maple, Boxer, crab apple, purple leaf cherry, clove, forsythia, grapevine, hemp, coffee, spinach, strawberry, And general settings for all other species.
This instrument measures the relative chlorophyll concentration in an area of approximately 64 mm2 (a circle with a diameter of 9 mm). Including a field of view reducer, it can reduce the sampling area of blades smaller than 9 mm by approximately 20 mm2 (for circles with a diameter of 5 mm).
